Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts is a school
for the performing arts, specializing
is the instruction of dance and music
to the children of the South Side Community
and the city of Chicago at large, incorporated
under the laws of the State of Illinois.
Mayfair is a family owned and operated
business founded by the late Mr.
Tommy Sutton (renowned Tap Dancer
& Choreographer) and is currently
under the direction of his daughter, Peggy
Sutton. Mayfair continues to thrive
in the same community that gave it, its
origins.

Mayfair Academy began operation in 1959
located at 7923 South King Drive with a
student enrollment of ninety-seven and a
faculty of five. Mayfair, now in its forty-fifth
year of successful operation, is currently
housed at 1025 E. 79th Street in a building
owned by the corporation. It has been in
this same location since 1965.
The building includes a reception area;
three fully furnished studios for dance
instruction; three dressing

rooms; an upstairs baby department and
reception area; and four music studios.
In its present operation, Mayfair has a
faculty of 12 teachers, all recognized as
leading authorities in their particular
field of instruction, a staff of five in
reception and a student enrollment of over
800 students. In 2004 Mayfair Academy celebrated
the opening of a second location, Mayfair
Academy Too!, in Flossmoor, IL. After
several year of growth at the Flossmoor
location, Mayfair Academy Too! moved and
expanded to Country
Club Hills, IL. Mayfair operates on
a thirty-six week semester from September
through June. In the recognition of the
faculty and teaching procedures, Mayfair
is recognized nationally as one of the leading
schools of its type in the country, with
a reputation of high quality teaching procedures
and competitive completion of study in our
graduates.
